Karen Blandford
Through her upbringing in rural and remote areas of Australia, Karen has a deep sense of connection with the land. Karen was born 1968 in Bendigo, Victoria.
Her love of drawing developed from an early age along with a fascination for surrealist imagery by Escher and Heironymous Bosch. A family move to Western Australia in 1981 saw Karen spending her teen years in the remote northwest whereby the vastness of the Pilbara landscape compelled her to paint. In 1993, Karen graduated with a Diploma of Arts (Art & Design) from WA School of Art, Design & Media. In the subsequent years, she freelanced as a graphic designer and illustrator. Through invitation, Karen has taught at both private and government tertiary institutions on a casual basis in Art & Design.

QUOTE
| "... Works I produce are the end result of working in conjunction with other pieces on a rotation basis. At any given time there are at least twenty pieces being created with some put aside for indefinite periods whilst others are completed immediately. This process allows for the work to evolve in different directions making for interesting discoveries and accidental happenings along the way." May 2007 |
